MY HART DOG is excited to announce a new  programme coming soon to help over reactive dogs

Working with over reactive dogs is something I am passionate about. Having a reactive dog of my own, I know how challenging just going out for a walk can be at times.  A simple stroll can be being very stressful, especially if we end up in a situation where our dog is lunging or barking. Emotionally for both for the dog and guardian this can be simply exhausting. It is worth noting, there is no "quick fix", we need to work holistically and thoughtfully on a well structured behaviour modification plan , based on the latest science based methods, designed to support the emotional needs of both dog and dog guardian.

How we can help..

Our goal at My Hart Dog Training is not merely to change behaviour, it is to change how the dog is feeling. Over-reaction is usually driven by an emotional response to something in the environment. Your dog may be frightened, frustrated or over-excited – and sometimes it can be hard to tell the difference.

What we offer..

This course offers you 4 face to face coaching sessions in  locations to suit you, so you can work with confidence on new techniques to help you and your dog achieve your goals.

A  combination of specifically designed online tutorials, handouts, face to face coaching and on-going support through weekly touchpoints using ZOOM meetings, phone-calls and face to face.

  • This carefully constructed programme offers you the latest in science based behaviour modifications to help over-reactive dogs feel more confident and relaxed. The course will also equip dog guardians with the tools to manage stressful situations and reducing the anxiety previously experienced.

  • The initial assessment takes around 90 minutes. We will require detailed behaviour questionnaire  to be completed prior to the initial visit, so we can capture the history of the behaviour plus anything else that might be affecting your dog.

  •  On our initial consultation takes place either via ZOOM or face to face depending on what is most suitable for you. Via ZOOM can be helpful, so when we meet in person we can get straight in to working together with you and your dog. We will work together on understanding your situation, and learning about the specific challenges you are facing.

  • The next stage is putting management and behaviour modification tools in place, specifically addressing things that are stressing both you and your dog.

  • At each face to face meeting, ZOOM or phone call we will review your progress, celebrating your wins, and tweaking your personalised plan if needed.

  • Access to MY HART DOG trainer for one month after the programme has finished to help you stay on track.

  • Access to your on-line course for one year so you can re-visit the tutorials, handouts and workbooks.

Please note: As per any new behaviour/ training programme, it is important to discuss with your vet to rule out any physiological reasons for your dogs behaviour, especially if this is a sudden change. This will need to be arranged prior to any course being undertaken.
