Transform your dog into a Scent Detective!

Take your scentwork to the next level with our Intermediate (Silver Level) UK Sniffer Dogs course at My Hart Dog.

Designed for dogs who already love the game, this course adds new challenges, odours, and skills to build confident and capable canine detectives. We’ll be focusing on:

Fine-tuning the indication – Shaping a clear, consistent signal that your dog has located the target odour.

Developing your handling skills – Learning how to guide your dog more effectively during searches without taking over.

Introducing new odours – Expanding their scent library with gun oil and catnip, building their confidence with novel targets. 

Adding complexity to searches – Fun and varied search setups designed to challenge their nose and sharpen their problem-solving skills.

Scentwork taps into a dog's innate abilities, to cater to both their mental and physical needs.  
Sniffing fulfils a major part of our dogs sensory needs, helping  them feel contented and relaxed  
Scentwork is mindfulness for dogs, giving nervous, anxious dogs something to focus on and feel happier and more positive going into new or stressful situations going forward.

All our training is founded on modern methods based on sound clinical evidence. We pride ourselves on offering kind and ethical coaching systems based on supporting the needs of both dog and dog owner.

I have a kind and empathetic training ethos combined with a science based approach to dog-training.  

In order to learn something new, our dogs must be feel comfortable in their environment. Whilst we do our very best to accommodate sensitive dogs, if you think your dog might struggle around other dogs, this may not be right class. Please do check out our individual sessions which might be better suited.  

I do not allow any aversives ( choke collar, prong collar) or any jerking or shouting at dogs in my classes.

We welcome fully vaccinated pups from 12 weeks old. Scentwork are calm, low intensity classes that are great at helping young dogs develop their confidence in a safe and comfortable environment.
Obviously we have to make allowances, as puppies tire quickly and are not able to concentrate on a task as long as more mature dogs.
