What is over reactivity?

Over-reaction is usually driven by an emotional response to something in the environment.

Your dog may be frightened, frustrated or over-excited – and sometimes it can be hard to tell the difference.
Find out more about reactivity in the video
 below...

And please do feel free to get in touch if you have any questions.

Signs of  over reactivity in your dog could be:

Your dog lunges, barks, or growls excessively at the sight of other dogs or unfamiliar people.

You find yourself walking your dog at unsociable hours, just to avoid meeting other dog walkers.

Your dogs seems super sensitive or worried by something, strangers or new things and you don't understand why.

"Walter I really liked that Kate focused on how Walter was feeling, she helped me to understand how my behaviour and handling was essential to Walter’s recovery and to see things from Walter’s point of view.

Kate is always quick to respond to my queries and it’s been great to have her at the end of the phone when needed. I have started to see Walter as an individual, with big feelings, and I have learnt to listen to him, and read his body language.  I love the way Kate talks to Walter, with such respect, and Walter loves her!

My confidence has grown, and I am happy to advocate for Walter with the understanding and knowledge I now have.

I feel confident when training, using the techniques Kate has taught me. All this has been a result of Kate’s unwavering confidence, kindness and understanding, she is always full of praise, and encouragement."

DONNA & WALTER

"Under Kate’s careful guidance with her amazing knowledge of dog’s behaviour and her incredible support my lovely boy became less anxious and reactive.

I became more confident using the tools Kate taught me.

Now instead of stressful walks we have wonderful calm and enjoyable walks which we both look forward too.

Kate is so easy to work with and very generous with her praise, her training environment and website/technology is incredible and extremely professional.

I couldn’t be more grateful to Kate or recommend her too highly”

Working with over reactive dogs is something I am very passionate about.

Having a reactive dog of my own, I know how challenging just going out for a walk can be at times.  A simple stroll can be very stressful, especially if we end up in a situation where our dog is lunging or barking. Emotionally for both the dog and guardian this can be simply exhausting. It is worth noting, there is no"quick fix", we need to work holistically and thoughtfully on a well structured behaviour modification plan, based on the latest science based methods to get the results you and your dog need. Find out more about me.
